Mark is a specialized contributor to GBD providing 20 years of experience working on challenging urban design and masterplanning projects, ranging from citywide comprehensive plans and regional transit planning efforts, to streetscape improvement plans and large site masterplans. Currently he is working on the RiverPlace redevelopment and the Montgomery Park masterplan efforts. Mark led the Urban Design Studio at the City of Portland for almost ten years, helping shape a broad range of transformational projects, including the 2035 Comprehensive Plan, the Central City 2035 Plan, the Transit Mall Revitalization Project, and the North Interstate Corridor Plan (among many others). Utilizing his interest in exploring, testing and rendering new ideas at a variety of scales he is able to lead and facilitate broad discussions on design with an emphasis on open, frequent and transparent communication. Mark has years of experience envisioning the process, products and tools necessary to achieve bold visions.
