Camp Meriwether

Camp Meriwether is a 790-acre scout camp operated by the Cascade Pacific Council, BSA and sited along the Oregon coast just south Cape Lookout. The camp property rises from two miles of broad, sandy beach, over sea cliffs, sand dunes, a freshwater lake and sprawling coastal forests.

In an effort to increase utilization of the camp, and to adapt to the needs of today’s youth, Camp Meriwether expanded its offerings to serve as a site for Oregon’s Outdoor School: a state sponsored outdoor enrichment program that takes fifth and six grade students into nature for a multi-day, immersive experience. GBD assisted Camp Meriwether strengthen its ability to host Outdoor School by expanding its educational and lodging facilities.  An existing boat storage facility was transformed into a lakeside ecology center, anchoring a new elevated boardwalk that highlights various aspects of the coastal habitat, while new dormitory cabins will provide year-round accommodations for Outdoor School students and their instructors as well as scouts.

Through our work at Camp Meriwether, GBD is proud to support the Cascade Pacific Council in their ongoing efforts to provide Oregon’s youth with a vital connection to nature.
