Portland, OR

GBD played a key role in assisting Tonkon Torp with their relocation to the Wells Fargo Center, spanning the 24th, 23rd, 22nd, and part of the 21st floors. The project involved extensive renovations, including the enhancement of an existing staircase and the addition of a new stair to seamlessly connect all levels, fostering greater connectivity and movement throughout the office.

A defining feature of the new space is the reception area, which has been designed to serve a dual purpose as both a welcoming entry and a versatile lounge and event center. This space is equipped with a coffee bar, catering kitchen, and a double-sided fireplace, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for both employees and visitors. Each floor includes a dedicated pantry and dining area, providing convenient amenities for employees. Additionally, a community fireplace room offers a comfortable setting for team collaboration, casual meetings, and client entertainment.

The design concept, inspired by the theme of “intertwined,” reflects Tonkon Torp’s deep-rooted connections within Portland and the broader Oregon community. This idea is expressed through carefully selected finishes and design elements, featuring woven textures and interlocking patterns that symbolize the firm’s historical impact and ongoing influence in the region.
