The Elwood – Hassalo on Eighth

Portland, Oregon

The Elwood Building is a five-level mixed-use project with ground floor retail and 143 for-lease residential units (average 665 sq. feet). Additionally, this block is home to Green Zebra Grocery, which serves the district with alternative shopping options for prepared food, staples as well as a distinguished beer and Kombucha selection.

The building's U-shaped massing encloses a residential amenity courtyard at level two. The Elwood Building views primarily overlook the new outdoor plaza and the new pedestrian street to the west, as well as surrounding views within the district. Residential amenities include: elevated courtyard terrace, eco-roof for rainwater treatment, and a Community Roof at Level 5 with an outdoor terrace. For the building's interior, GBD completed all interior design and finish selections, and collaborated with VIDA, who selected furniture and accessories. 

The development team achieved USGBC LEED for Homes Platinum certification for all three buildings, with a goal of LEED-ND Platinum for the neighborhood as well. Hassalo on Eighth was substantially complete October 2015.
