The Louisa – Brewery Blocks

Portland, Oregon

The Louisa apartment tower completed the master plan for new buildings developed in the five-block Brewery Blocks project. The 16-story tower added 242 much needed for-rent housing units to the central city’s housing inventory; while introducing a glassy, modern architectural vocabulary to the Pearl District. The design includes a single-story base, composed of pedestrian-oriented retail spaces. The base is topped by 12 unique, two-story townhouses oriented around rooftop gardens. The retail level and townhouses form a podium for the 16-story high-rise apartment tower above. The tower faces south, offering superb city, river and mountain views. The building was constructed on top of the existing underground parking garage, developed during the initial phases of the Brewery Blocks redevelopment. Completed in late 2005, the Louisa received US Green Building Council’s LEED Gold certification.
